Saturday's Premier League 3pm predictions

Brighton vs Tottenham predictions

Following last Saturday’s resounding 3-0 win over London rivals West Ham, Europa League holders Tottenham made a triumphant return to Europe’s top table on Tuesday, edging out a strong Villarreal side 1-0.

Having finished 17th last season, Spurs needed a strong domestic start. Luckily, they have responded excellently to Thomas Frank’s fresh ideas and have taken nine points from their opening four games.

Many of their new signings have taken up starring roles already – Joao Palhinha and Mohammed Kudus being the two standouts – and confidence is high after two impressive results, so it is a surprise to see quotes of around 2-1 for Tottenham to take maximum points from their trip to Brighton.

That is a big price given the talent at Frank’s disposal, especially as the Seagulls’ 2-1 loss at Bournemouth meant they have amassed just four points this term.

A 2-1 win over Manchester City is nestled among those results for Brighton but Tottenham, who have conceded just one goal in their last five games, are a better defensive side than the Citizens and can stand firm on the south coast.

Brighton vs Tottenham team news & predicted line-ups

Brighton

Mats Wieffer is back from injury and Maxim De Cuyper faces a fitness test. Jack Hinshelwood will be out for a while after damaging his ligaments and joins Adam Webster and Solly March on the sidelines.

Predicted line-up (4-2-3-1): Verbruggen; Veltman, Van Hecke, Dunk, Kadioglu; Milner, Baleba; Minteh, Rutter, Mitoma; Welbeck.

Tottenham

Dominic Solanke, James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski, Kota Takai and Radu Dragusin are out while Yves Bissouma must be assessed.

Predicted line-up (4-3-3): Vicario; Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Spence; Sarr, Palhinha, Bergvall; Kudus, Kolo Muani, Simons.

Brighton vs Tottenham key stat

Tottenham have won four of their last five games to nil.

Burnley vs Nottingham Forest predictions

Beautiful build-up play, 55 per cent possession and a 3-2 defeat to second-tier Swansea – Ange Postecoglou is back, baby.

Nottingham Forest did not represent a Postecoglou side in their 3-0 loss at Arsenal last Saturday but his ideas were implemented for Wednesday’s EFL Cup defeat to the Swans, suggesting we are in for the full Ange-Ball experience at Turf Moor.

Burnley kept a record-breaking 30 clean sheets in the Championship last season but while their games rarely feature many goals, Postecoglou’s certainly do. His Tottenham side saw at least three scored in 24 of their 38 Premier League matches last term.

Forest may not have fully acclimatised to his radical ways in time for a trip to Lancashire, but that is the beauty of backing over 2.5 goals.

If they haven’t, Burnley could regularly split open a Forest defence which has conceded nine goals while losing their last three games.

However, if they have, Dilane Bakwa, Morgan Gibbs-White and Callum Hudson-Odoi could have a field day against a Clarets rearguard which shipped three against a poor Manchester United last month.

Goals follow Ange round like a shadow – expect them to flow in Burnley.

Burnley vs Nottingham Forest team news & predicted line-ups

Burnley

Lesley Ugochukwu is suspended after picking up two yellow cards against Liverpool and misses out alongside injured Zeki Amdouni, Jordan Beyer and Connor Roberts.

Predicted line-up (5-4-1): Dubravka; Walker, Laurent, Ekdal, Esteve, Hartman; Tchaouna, Cullen, Luis, Anthony; Foster.

Nottingham Forest

Murillo faces a fitness test after being forced off against Arsenal and missing the midweek defeat at Swansea while Ola Aina and Nicolas Dominguez remain sidelined.

Predicted line-up (4-2-3-1): Sels; Williams. Milenkovic, Morato, Zinchenko; Sangare, Anderson; Bakwa, Gibbs-White, Hudson-Odoi; Wood.

Burnley vs Nottingham Forest key stat

Ange Postecoglou’s 77 matches as a Premier League manager have produced an average of 3.46 goals per game.

West Ham vs Crystal Palace predictions

Pressure has been mounting on West Ham manager Graham Potter, who has overseen a poor start to the season for the East London side.

The Irons fell at the first hurdle in the EFL Cup, losing 3-2 away to Wolves, and slipped to third-bottom in the Premier League after last Saturday's dismal 3-0 loss at home to Tottenham.

Talk of a managerial change has increased but Potter will hoping for a better performance and result against Crystal Palace, who are likely to be below full strength after Adam Wharton was rated doubtful and Ismaila Sarr ruled out.

The Eagles are unbeaten in 16 games and were outstanding on their last Premier League road trip when they won 3-0 against Aston Villa.

However,  there was a noticeable drop  in performance last Saturday when the Eagles slugged out a 0-0 draw at home to Sunderland.

Oliver Glasner has a lack of attacking options but his team should be well organised and that may be enough to pick up a fourth draw of the campaign.

West Ham vs Crystal Palace team news & predicted line-ups

West Ham

Tomas Soucek starts a three-game ban and Aaron Wan-Bissaka (stomach) and Luis Guilherme (shoulder) remain sidelined.

Predicted line-up (4-2-3-1): Hermansen; Walker-Peters, Mavropanos, Kilman, Diouf; Magassa, Ward-Prowse; Bowen, Paqueta, Summerville; Wilson.

Crystal Palace

Oliver Glasner has confirmed Adam Wharton and Eddie Nketiah are available but Ismaila Sarr, Chadi Riad, Cheick Doucoure and Walter Benitez remain out.

Predicted line-up (3-4-2-1): Henderson; Richards, Lacroix, Guehi; Munoz, Hughes, Lerma, Mitchell; Pino, Kamada; Mateta.

Wolves vs Leeds predictions

Leeds are still searching for their first away goals and points of the season but they can tick both boxes with a win at Wolves.

Following their promotion from the Championship, Leeds would have braced themselves for a steep learning curve.

However, aside from a 5-0 defeat at the Emirates Stadium, they have been competitive in every game.

Daniel Farke's side were dealt a blow at Fulham last weekend when Gabriel Gudmundsson's injury-time own goal settled a tight contest in the home side's favour, but they could point to some positives after winning the shot count ten to five.

Leeds lacked a cutting edge against the Cottagers, but they have an extra attacking option this weekend as Joel Piroe is back in the frame and can find enough moments of quality to win a close contest.

Wolves are keen to steady the ship and have given their fans a boost by handing new contracts to head coach Vitor Pereira and star striker Jorgen Strand Larsen.

However, they are clearly struggling on the pitch and could be set for another setback this weekend.

Wolves vs Leeds team news & predicted line-ups

Wolves

Jorgen Strand Larsen has missed the last two games but could return, although he will be unable to play the entire match. Leon Chiwome is ruled out while Jose Sa and Ki-Jana Hoever face late tests.

Predicted line-up (3-5-2): Johnstone; Agbadou, Mosquera, Toti; H Bueno, Andre, J Gomes, Krejci, R Gomes; Hwang, Arokodare.

Leeds

Joel Piroe and Ao Tanaka should be back in the squad but Lucas Perri is ruled out and Dan James and Wilfried Gnonto are major doubts.

Predicted line-up (4-3-3): Darlow; Bogle, Rodon, Struijk, Gudmundsson; Tanaka, Ampadu, Stach; Aaronson, Calvert-Lewin, Okafor.

Wolves vs Leeds key stat
