Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been slashed to odds-on prices to be the next Premier League manager to leave his position after the Manchester United boss saw his side lose 2-0 at home to Burnley on Wednesday night.

Solskjaer had previously been available at 15-2 to be the next gaffer to go but their defeat by leaders Liverpool and an underwhelming performance against Burnley have left the Norwegian’s job under serious threat.

The Red Devils have 34 points after 24 games, their worst tally at this stage of the season for 30 years, and are just four points ahead of 14th-placed Newcastle.

However, the club's board said on Thursday they have no plans to sack Solskjaer despite their hopes of returning to the Champions League suffering another setback.

The sack-race market shake-up was also affected by Bournemouth’s crucial 3-1 win over Brighton on Tuesday.

Cherries chief Eddie Howe had been favourite to be the next manager to lose his job with several bookmakers but that victory has seen his price drift to 11-2 with Betfair and Paddy Power.

Former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is 1-2 with Sky Bet to be named the next Manchester United boss, with Max Allegri available at 8-1.
