Team news
Southampton
Tino Livramento and Theo Walcott are out. Keeper Alex McCarthy is close to a return.
Nottingham Forest
Jesse Lingard is injured. New signing Gustavo Scarpa is in line for a debut. They are already without Giulian Biancone, Moussa Niakhate and Cheikh Kouyate.
Match preview
A miserably wet January evening somehow seems the perfect time for these strugglers to line up against each other at St Mary's.
Sorry Saints have won only one in their last ten at home, haven't kept a clean sheet at home in 12 in all competitions and have lost all three top-flight matches under new boss Nathan Jones.
Forest may be slightly more upbeat after drawing 1-1 at home with Chelsea, although they haven't scored on the road in the league since August.
And Forest are preferred – at least they have been on their travels since the World Cup and won, albeit in the League Cup at Blackburn, a resounding 4-1 triumph.
Southampton just look a mess, especially at the back where Lyanco, for example, appears out of his depth, and protection from midfield is virtually non-existent. The return of Roman Lavia can't come quickly enough.
There's enough pace about Forest on the counter to worry this Saints' side and the visitors are worth a nibble with the draw-no-bet as a back-up.
