Manchester City-Manchester City double result

Manchester City and Manchester United have made stuttering starts to the new season and neither team will want to stumble out of the traps on derby day.

United got away with it in this fixture last season when an 88th-minute penalty from Bruno Fernandes and a 90th-minute Amad Diallo strike gave them a dramatic 2-1 win.

City had led at half-time thanks to a Josko Gvardiol goal and they can take charge early on at the Etihad again.

Pep Guardiola's men were 2-0 up at the break in their 4-0 win at Wolves on the opening weekend and had the better early chances in their 2-0 loss to Tottenham.

They allowed Brighton only one shot in the first hour before letting slip a 1-0 half-time lead to lose 2-1 in Sussex and should be more ruthless against their derby rivals.

Under 3.5 goals

Manchester United claimed a chaotic 3-2 home win over Burnley in their last Premier League fixture but over 3.5 goals has been a winning bet in only one of their last eight meetings with City.

Both teams are missing key attacking players as Omar Marmoush and Rayan Cherki are sidelined for City and United's absentees include Matheus Cunha and Mason Mount.

The Red Devils' four league goals this season include one penalty and two opposition own goals and April's Manchester derby at Old Trafford ended 0-0.

Under 4.5 cards

Referees are usually on edge going into a big Premier League derby but Anthony Taylor may be in for a relatively quiet 90 minutes on Sunday.

United have picked up only three yellow cards in their first three league fixtures, for Patrick Dorgu against Arsenal, Casemiro at Fulham and Fernandes in the win over Burnley.

City have also kept their discipline in the early weeks of the season. Their games against Wolves and Brighton produced three and four cautions while Tottenham players received four of the five cards brandished in last month's win at the Etihad.

Referee Taylor showed one yellow card apiece in this fixture last season and booked only four players in his five subsequent Premier League matches involving City or United.
