Match preview

Pep Guardiola's free-scoring Premier League champions can put newcomers Nottingham Forest in their place at The Etihad.

City have already scored 13 goals in four outings this season culminating in the four they bagged to get out of trouble against Crystal Palace on Saturday.

They have now scored two or more in each of their last 13 matches, at least two in each of their last ten at home and have lost only once in the last ten months in the league.

Forest deserve all sorts of credit for giving it a real go against Tottenham Hotspur at the City Ground on Sunday despite being ultimately picked off by a classy counter-attacking outfit in a 2-0 loss.

This will be very different, a real backs-to-the-wall effort, though like Palace they also possess the tools on the counter with Brennan Johnson and Morgan Gibbs-White able to provide a few flurries of disquiet in City's leaky defence.

City have conceded five in their last two, at the hands of Newcastle and Palace, both of whom were clever and precise in their chosen moments to strike.

Steve Cooper's men are massive 30-1 shots in a game where finding much pro-City value isn’t easy. Even City and over 3.5 goals is 4-6.

A better option at a decent price is City and both teams to score at 8-5, especially given what we've seen of Guardiola's defence over the past week or so.

Key stat

Both teams have scored in five of Man City's last seven league matches.
