Match preview

Leicester are off to another strong start and can keep it going by holding injury-hit Manchester City to a draw at the Etihad.

Title favourites City are widely expected to lay down a strong challenge and Pep Guardiola's side made a good start by winning 3-1 at Wolves on Monday.

However, City's bench at Wolves included three teenage academy graduates – midfielders Adrian Bernabe and Tommy Doyle plus striker Liam Delap – and Guardiola may hand the youngsters some exposure against Leicester because he claims to have only 13 senior plays available.

A young City side were 2-1 winners at home to Bournemouth in Thursday's EFL Cup third round tie although Guardiola deployed senior men Kyle Walker, Rodri and Phil Foden, who may be asked to start their third match of the week.

City's preparations appear far from ideal and the home side may be more stretched and fatigued than Leicester, who rested their entire first 11 for Wednesday's 2-0 EFL Cup loss at home to Arsenal.

Brendan Rodgers cannot call on key midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, who was injured during last Sunday's 4-2 success at home to Burnley and faces an estimated three months on the sidelines.

But his attacking options are enhanced by James Maddison, who is almost fully recovered from hip surgery and lasted for 71 minutes of the midweek match.

Leicester took the lead in last season's corresponding fixture before losing 3-1 and are likely to be just as positive this weekend as they seek to take advantage of a potentially vulnerable City defence.

Influential City defender Aymeric Laporte remains absent so the task of containing the Foxes falls primarily on centre-backs John Stones and Nathan Ake.

Guardiola's new-look rearguard did reasonably well against Wolves but City have kept just two clean sheets in their last eight games - against relegated pair Norwich and Watford – and could be exposed by Leicester, who look overpriced to pick up a point.
