Match preview

Manchester City have had a free midweek to digest their 1-0 defeat at Liverpool and they should comfortably return to winning ways when facing Brighton at the Etihad.

Pep Guardiola's men remain well placed and have been in cruise control in Premier League home games, scoring 24 goals and conceding five.

City are yet to drop points at the Etihad and it should be a matter of time before they assert their authority against a Brighton side going through a sticky patch.

Brighton started the season impressively and were fourth when Graham Potter left them for Chelsea during the September international break.

However, they have taken just two points from four games under Roberto De Zerbi and were poor on Tuesday when drawing 0-0 at home to an unambitious Nottingham Forest.

Very few clear-cut chances were created against Forest and it would be no great surprise if Brighton fail to score against City.
