Erling Haaland's ninth goal of the Premier League season earned Manchester City a 1-0 victory at Brentford on a busy Sunday of top-flight action.

Newcastle followed up their 4-0 Champions League win at Union Saint-Gilloise by beating troubled Nottingham Forest 2-0 with Bruno Guimaraes and Nick Woltemade on the scoresheet.

The last unbeaten record in the top flight ended as Everton came from behind to defeat Crystal Palace 2-1 thanks to a fortunate injury-time goal from Jack Grealish. It was Palace's first defeat in any competition since April 16 and the Toffees have taken eight points from their first four games at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Donyell Malen scored both goals for Aston Villa in a 2-1 home victory over Burnley but winless Wolves remain bottom of the table after a 1-1 draw with Brighton at Molineux.

Talking point

They couldn't could, they? Nottingham Forest sacked Nuno Espirito Santo during September's international window and, incredibly, his successor Ange Postecoglou goes into the October break as odds-on favourite to be the next Premier League manager to leave his job.

Postecoglou's first four league fixtures included tough away trips to Arsenal and Newcastle but games against promoted Burnley and Sunderland yielded just one point.

Forest scored only one goal in those four league games and their poor cup results have increased the pressure on Postecoglou. A 3-2 EFL Cup exit at Swansea was followed by a 2-2 draw with Real Betis and a damaging 3-2 home defeat to Midtjylland in the Europa League.

Forest's upcoming league fixtures look tricky, with home games against Chelsea, Manchester United and Leeds and trips to highflying Bournemouth and champions Liverpool.

Market moves

Chelsea's late winner against Liverpool on Saturday made it an excellent weekend for Arsenal, who are 10-11 to win the title after their 2-0 victory over West Ham.

Liverpool are out to 11-4 to retain their crown, having been even-money before their back-to-back defeats against Crystal Palace and Chelsea. Hills clipped City from 9-2 to 4-1 to regain the title and Chelsea are 25-1, from 40-1, after beating the champions at Stamford Bridge.

Forest are 11-4 with Betfair to be relegated, from 9-1 at the start of the season.

Bet365 offer 5-4 that Newcastle striker Woltemade outscores 4-7 shot Alexander Isak in this season's Premier League. The German leads Liverpool's Isak 3-0 after seven games.

Punting pointers

Manchester City fans are nervously waiting to hear the extent of Rodri's latest injury although the Citizens are 2-5 to win their next league fixture at home to Everton on October 18.

The Toffees will be missing the creative influence of City loanee Grealish and under 2.5 goals has been a winning bet in five of the last seven meetings between the clubs.

Burnley resume their campaign at home to Leeds, whose marauding right-back Jayden Bogle is worth considering in the shots, goals and assist markets.

In Burnley's last four league games, all eight starting opposition full-backs had at least one shot at goal, as did Liverpool substitutes Conor Bradley and Andy Robertson.

Forest left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko had three shots in the Clarets' last match at Turf Moor, where right-back Neco Williams scored with one of his three efforts.
