Liverpool vs Tottenham predictions

After Arsenal were held by Crystal Palace on Wednesday, a point against Tottenham on Sunday will be enough for Liverpoolto  secure the title, but it is hard to see the rampant Reds settling for a draw in front of an expectant and buoyant Anfield crowd.

Arne Slot's first season in England has been an almighty success and his side have been so utterly dominant in the league that their crowning as champions has felt inevitable for months.

Liverpool have lost just two league matches, scored 75 goals, and are good value for their spot at the summit. Understat's expected-points table puts them on 73 points and seven clear of closest title rivals Arsenal.

Slot has coached an exciting attacking unit while not compromising on the defensive end and although the well-balanced Reds were not at their best when scraping a 1-0 win and relegating Leicester at the King Power last time out, they may not be so toothless on their own patch.

The Reds have won a league-high 13 home games this term, scoring 34 goals and conceding just 12 in their 16 Premier League matches at Anfield, and they will be focused on securing a first title since 2020.

And, while Liverpool will be go all out for an emphatic victory, visitors Tottenham may be somewhat distracted on Merseyside.

Spurs, who have endured a dreadful domestic campaign, will play the first leg of their Europa League semi-final against Bodo/Glimt on Thursday and, given winning that tournament may be the only way he keeps his job, manager Ange Postecoglou is likely to have made that match his priority.

The Australian may not rotate his squad as heavily as some believe – he will want to go into the semi-final with some confidence given Tottenham suffered their 18th Premier League defeat of the season against Nottingham Forest last time – but a few key men are still likely to be rested at Anfield.

Dejan Kulusevski, Brennan Johnson, Destiny Udogie and at least one of injury-prone defensive duo Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven are likely candidates to sit out at Liverpool, and that could open the door for a convincing home victory.

Even if Postecoglou does choose to put out a strong side, there is every chance the Reds run riot anyway given they have already routed Tottenham twice this term.

Liverpool racked up a mammoth 24 shots to their hosts' nine when thrashing the Lilywhites 6-3 in December's reverse fixture and the relentless Reds weren't done toying with Postecoglou's soft-centred Spurs there, later trouncing them 4-0 at Anfield in the League Cup semi-final. Tottenham failed to even register a shot on target in that second demolition.

Liverpool have scored at least four goals in each of their last three home matches against Spurs and are focused on securing the title in style, so things could get ugly for a distracted Spurs side once again.
