Liverpool vs Arsenal predictions

Liverpool are on their victory lap with the Premier League title already secured and they can do some damage to Arsenal’s second-place hopes with victory in their penultimate game of the season at Anfield.

The Reds secured the title in Arne Slot’s first season in charge two weeks ago courtesy of a 5-1 victory over Tottenham and this could be the perfect time to host the Gunners as they dwell on their midweek Champions League exit.

Arsenal lost 2-1 at Paris St-Germain on Wednesday, suffering a 3-1 aggregate defeat in that semi-final showdown, and they may struggle to lift themselves for this clash with the champions.

The Gunners’ form in the Premier League has tailed off in recent weeks. Their only win in five outings came at relegated Ipswich while they threw away a 1-0 half-time lead to lose at home to Bournemouth last Saturday.

That suggests that all their focus has been on Europe and Liverpool, the fresher of the pair following a seven-day layoff, should be able to capitalise.

The Reds have a 3-1 loss at Chelsea last weekend to recover from but they have been relentless at Anfield, taking 44 points from 51 available in the league with 14 wins from 17 matches.

The levels of Slot’s side have certainly dipped as the season has progressed but they have won seven home league games on the spin and they may have been underrated by the market.

Despite their success this season, Arsenal have won only six of their last 15 away league games and they are looking more suspect defensively without centre-back Gabriel, and have kept only three clean sheets in their last 14 outings.

Arsenal's current ten-game league form amounts to just 14 points and it is hard to see them boosting that record at Anfield, where they have failed to win on their last 14 visits.

With nothing but pride on the line, this may be played in a friendlier spirit than is often the case but Liverpool should still hold the aces.

The Reds top the league for goals scored with a total of 81 while they have also registered the most shots (602) and shots on target (218), suggesting that they could have too much firepower for their visitors.

Arsenal will still want to finish second but three straight defeats and another trophyless season may be tough to respond to, especially against opponents of Liverpool’s magnitude.

Liverpool vs Arsenal bet builder predictions

Liverpool to win
The champions have had three days extra rest and are fancied to stretch their league winning run at Anfield to eight, while Arsenal look vulnerable following their Champions League exit.

Mohamed Salah to score
The Egyptian tops the Premier League charts with 28 goals in 35 appearances and he has scored in four of his last six meetings with the Gunners.

Under 3.5 cards
With nothing on the line, this may be played in a friendly spirit and there were only three cards when these two played out a 2-2 draw in a crunch clash at the Emirates in October.
