Liverpool v Tottenham focus: Spurs suffering from travel sickness

Things have not been this bad for Tottenham on the road since George Graham was in charge.

Spurs have gone ten Premier League matches without an away success dating back to January 20 and they head to Anfield looking to find a cure for the travel sickness which has been behind their failed title bid last season and this term's attempts to sustain a top-four push.

Tottenham went 14 league games without success under Graham in 2000-01 before Sergei Rebrov's last-minute winner in a 1-0 win at Manchester City stopped the rot.

That was a trademark Graham result for the defensive disciplinarian - or at least it was during his Arsenal heyday - and how Pochettino could do with a clean sheet to steady the ship.

Tottenham's last Premier League away shutout came on New Year's Day against a Cardiff side who were later relegated and Pochettino's ropey rearguard look certain to be troubled by Liverpool's all-star forward line.

Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen, both out of contract in the summer, have not been playing at their usual standard, although the Belgian centre-back pair could point to a lack of protection in front of them with Pochettino's press falling apart.

Only Aston Villa, Norwich, Arsenal and Bournemouth had allowed more shots than Spurs heading into this weekend and there won't be many rushing to back the 15-2 offered about reserve keeper Paulo Gazzaniga keeping a clean sheet for the visitors.
