Going into the weekend fixtures Liverpool had the second-best defensive record in the Premier League, but their high press can leave them vulnerable to counter-attacks.

The Reds went four games without a clean sheet before Tuesday's 4-0 success over Manchester United and there were moments in midweek when they were exposed by simple passes through the centre of their defence.

United failed to take advantage but Everton, buoyed by their late equaliser in Wednesday's 1-1 draw at home to Leicester, may have more luck.

The Toffees could find the net but they are also likely to concede a few against a Reds' side who hammered them 4-1 at Goodison earlier this season.

Richarlison to have a shot on target

Everton's main counter-attacking threat will come from pacey Brazilian forward Richarlison, who has scored three goals in the last three matches.

The 24-year-old has bagged seven league goals this season and his constant willingness to run in behind will test a Liverpool defence which is routinely encouraged to squeeze high up the pitch.

Alisson often comes to Liverpool's rescue in one-on-one situations but there is a good chance that Richarlison will at least manage a shot on target.

Anthony Gordon to be shown a card

A local derby should get the juices flowing for Everton's homegrown attacking midfielder Anthony Gordon, who was born in Liverpool.

Gordon has been booked in three of his last six appearance and looks a strong yellow card candidate.
