Match preview

Leicester and Brighton served up an uneventful 0-0 draw in June and goals may be in short supply again when they face off at the King Power Stadium.

The opening 11 games of the season have been largely positive for Leicester, who returned to fourth after last Sunday's 2-1 success at Sheffield United.

The Foxes finished the weekend just three points off the top despite often struggling on home soil.

Playing without fans seems to be having a negative impact for Brendan Rodgers' side, who have lost three of their last four Premier League home games.

Tactically, they seem to struggle against teams who come to defend deep and counter-attack, but they could be up against more of the same against Brighton, who are playing a slightly different style than earlier in the campaign.

The Seagulls gained a reputation as a possession-based side who often struggle to convert dominance into points and head coach Graham Potter seems to have decided it is time for a change.

His team have had less than 50 per cent of the ball in each of their last three games and picked up four points by winning 2-1 at Aston Villa, drawing 1-1 at home to Liverpool and losing 2-1 at home to Southampton.

It has become noticeable that Brighton are looking to get the ball forward earlier to their strikers – any two from Aaron Connolly, Danny Welbeck and Neal Maupay – while condensing the space in front of their three-man defence.

Leicester like to play in a similar way, looking to involve Jamie Vardy as soon as possible, and the similarity of styles could contribute to a tight encounter.

Four of Brighton's last seven games have been drawn and another tight contest could be in store.

Key stat

Five of the last six matches between Leicester and Brighton have featured fewer than three goals.
