"Harry Kane has to leave Spurs"
Former Sunderland ace Kevin Phillips delivers his verdicts on the hot topics
Ex-England striker Kevin Phillips believes current Three Lions skipper Harry Kane must leave Tottenham in a bid to win the trophies his talent deserves.
Calling Kane "the best striker in the world," Phillips, who starred for Sunderland and was prolific enough in front of goal to win the 2000 European Golden Shoe, was a guest on this week's Racing Post YouTube show Different League in association with Betfred.
He said: "If I was in Kane's shoes then I would leave. I said at the beginning of last season that Spurs would need to win something to keep him and they still haven't.
"At the stage of his career he is at I would be speaking to my agent to get something going in the background.
"Kane is Mr Tottenham and he won't need to ever work again with his contract but he is the best striker in the world and needs to win trophies. He has individual awards but he will want honours.
"Tottenham hold the cards as he still has three years left on his contract and with his age and the injuries it will take a brave club to spend £120m but Kane should be at least looking for a move."
Phillips also discussed the return of fans, the Champions League and Europa League as well as giving his predictions for this round of Premier League matches, including tipping one striker for a hat-trick.
