The Premier League returns after the final international break of 2025 and, with fixtures coming thick and fast over the next few weeks, now is the time for Fantasy Premier League managers to make potentially crucial changes to their squads.

Here are the best FPL Gameweek 12 targets – as well as the three standout replacements for Arsenal's Gabriel, who is expected to miss several games with a thigh injury he sustained while playing for Brazil.

Top FPL Gameweek 12 targets

Bukayo Saka – £10.0m

Bukayo Saka remains the standout premium midfield option in Fantasy Football at the moment. He has scored in three of his last four games for Arsenal and found the net for England during the break with a fine finish in their 2-0 win over Serbia.

Arsenal face a derby dust-up against Tottenham this weekend, but Saka has scored three and assisted three in ten games against the Gunners' north London rivals. If Arsenal are to maintain their title charge, Saka will be instrumental to their success.

Cody Gakpo – £7.5m

Cody Gakpo was dropped for Liverpool’s win over Real Madrid and their defeat to Manchester City, with Florian Wirtz starting on the left side of the attack, but the German made minimal impact in either game so Arne Slot could again turn to Gakpo.

If the Dutchman retakes his place on the left side, where he started the season so well, there is every chance he will rediscover top form with some favourable fixtures ahead.

Liverpool play Nottingham Forest at home in Gameweek 12 before a trip to east London to take on West Ham.

How to replace Gabriel in FPL?

Gabriel is owned by over 40 per cent of the player base, so it’s likely you have him in your side. With the Brazilian sidelined for up to two months, here are the best replacements:

Jurrien Timber – £6.2m

From Arsenal's backline, Jurrien Timber is the standout Gabriel replacement. He has nailed down the right-back position, with Mikel Arteta clearly favouring him to Ben White.

Timber's expected goal involvements give him the edge over William Saliba, who remains a strong pick but lacks the attacking output of the full-back.

Virgil van Dijk – £5.9m

Liverpool’s favourable fixture list make Virgil van Dijk another strong option in defence. They have a good chance of keeping clean sheets in both upcoming matches, and he remains a constant threat from corners.

Van Dijk has also earned the extra two points from the defensive contributions mark in five of the opening 11 matches.

Daniel Munoz– £5.8m

Like Van Dijk, Daniel Munoz looks an option for those who prefer to move their Arsenal slot into midfield instead of doubling up on Gunners defenders.

Munoz has played a key role for a Palace side that has kept five clean sheets in 11 matches, and that record could be improved on with fixtures against Wolves, Burnley and Fulham in the next four gameweeks.
