Match preview

Bournemouth have to win at Goodison Park to give themselves a chance of staying in the Premier League, but their poor away record suggests they may not be able to do it.

Last week, this might have looked a decent final fixture for the Cherries as Everton have little to play for and had shown a lack of application as their campaign ground to a halt.

They were fortunate not to lose at home to relegation-threatened Aston Villa and were docile in losing 1-0 at Tottenham.

Wolves brushed them aside and goalkeeper Jordan Pickford has come in for criticism. They were stuttering towards their holidays.

However, a win over Sheffield United showed they are not finished just yet and it would be no surprise if Carlo Ancelotti's side ended their campaign with a flourish.

Bournemouth may be able to create chances and Pickford has been prone to a few edgy moments, but it is difficult to have much faith in Eddie Howe's defence, particularly as Nathan Ake is injured.

A record of one clean sheet in 20 matches goes a long way towards explaining their predicament and that game was a goalless draw against Tottenham when their opponents failed to muster a shot on target.

On what could be a gloomy day for the south-coast outfit, it is worth remembering that they have conceded at least two goals in ten away games this season.

So whether it comes as a result of the Cherries chasing the game or the visitors' frustration at the situation getting beyond their control, Everton are a decent price to follow that pattern.

Key stat

Bournemouth have lost their last nine Premier League away games.
