Chelsea vs Liverpool predictions
Liverpool's 2-1 Premier League victory over Chelsea at Anfield was a significant milestone in their title-winning campaign and Arne Slot's champions continue their lap of honour at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
Returning to action after October's international break, the Reds faced a daunting run of fixtures in the Premier League and the Champions League.
Goals from Mohamed Salah and Curtis Jones saw off Chelsea, sparking a sequence of nine victories in ten games for Liverpool, including wins over Bayer Leverkusen, Real Madrid and Manchester City as well as a 2-2 draw at title rivals Arsenal.
There is far less pressure on Slot's men when they take on Enzo Maresca's Blues this weekend and over 3.5 goals looks a good bet.
Liverpool sealed the title in style last Sunday, thrashing Tottenham 5-1 at Anfield, and their fringe players will be eager to impress Slot during the final four games of the season.
Chelsea are clear favourites to beat the champions but they face a tricky run-in in the race for Champions League qualification.
Their clash with Liverpool is followed by trips to top-five rivals Newcastle and Nottingham Forest, either side of a home fixture against Manchester United.
Despite the disparity between the teams' motivation levels, Chelsea make limited appeal at the odds.
Their last three home results were a 2-2 draw with lowly Ipswich, who led 2-0 at half-time, a 2-1 Conference League quarter-final second-leg defeat to Legia Warsaw and a 1-0 victory over Everton.
Liverpool's title celebrations mean some drop in standards is expected at Stamford Bridge and their most recent visit to west London ended in a rare defeat at Fulham.
The Cottagers scored three first-half goals in a 14-minute blitz to beat the Reds 3-2 last month and Chelsea, who had 34 shots in their draw with Ipswich, should be confident of breaching the champions' defence.
But, while Liverpool have had a week to recover from their emotional victory over Spurs, Maresca's men travelled to Sweden on Thursday, beating Djurgarden 4-1 in the Conference League semi-final first leg.
The Chelsea boss was able to rotate his squad against the 9-1 underdogs but Slot can also freshen up his side as Jones, Diogo Jota, Darwin Nunez, Federico Chiesa and Harvey Elliott are among the attacking players hoping to start alongside the prolific Mohamed Salah.
Stakes should be kept modest now that Liverpool have sealed the title but 15 of their 26 Premier League away games since the start of 2024 have produced over 3.5 goals and another entertaining road fixture could be on the cards.
