Brentford host Manchester United in this weekend's first Premier League fixture and rival managers Keith Andrews and Ruben Amorim are both desperate for a positive result.

Andrews has picked up four points from five league games since succeeding Thomas Frank while Amorim remains under pressure despite last weekend's 2-1 home win over Chelsea.

United forward Bryan Mbeumo returns to Brentford, for whom he scored 20 league goals last season before moving to Old Trafford for £71m in the summer.

Brentford vs Manchester United preview

Brentford take on Manchester United in this weekend's Premier League opener and home advantage could be a significant factor in this fixture.

The Bees have lost all three of their away league matches under new manager Keith Andrews, suffering 3-1 defeats at Nottingham Forest and Fulham and conceding two late goals to lose 2-1 at Sunderland.

However, they are unbeaten at home while visitors Manchester United continue to disappoint on their travels, winning only two of their last 15 games away from Old Trafford.

Andrews inherited a tricky job at Brentford, who lost manager Thomas Frank and key players Bryan Mbeumo, Yoane Wissa and Christian Norgaard over the summer.

However, United remain hard to trust at short odds - they have still not won back-to-back league games under Ruben Amorim - and the draw looks the best bet when these inconsistent sides meet at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Under-pressure United boss Amorim received a welcome gift from the universe last weekend when Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez was sent off in the first five minutes at Old Trafford.

As is their wont, though, the Red Devils made things difficult for themselves, grinding out a 2-1 win after midfielder Casemiro was dismissed just before half-time.

Amorim has been well backed in the transfer market and United could line up with a costly front three of Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Sesko and Mbeumo, Brentford's 20-goal top scorer last season.

But their only wins this term came against ten-man Chelsea and promoted Burnley, who were a couple of minutes away from taking a point at Old Trafford before Bruno Fernandes converted an injury-time penalty.

Brentford beat Aston Villa 1-0 in their first home game of the season and drew 2-2 with Chelsea in their second match on their own patch.

The Bees' long throws unsettled Chelsea's defence but they also pose a threat from open play through Kevin Schade, Igor Thiago and summer signing Dango Ouattara.

Dynamic Dorgu could provide a spark for Red Devils

United wing-back Patrick Dorgu had two shots in the 1-0 defeat to Arsenal on the opening weekend and another two attempts in this month's 3-0 derby loss at Manchester City.

The dynamic Danish youngster has licence to get forward and have a pop at goal. He fired in three shots in this month's World Cup qualifying win in Greece despite only coming on in the 64th minute.

Schade may prove too sharp for United again

German forward Schade opened the scoring in Brentford's last home game against Chelsea and he struck twice in this fixture last season, helping the Bees beat a second-string United side 4-3 in May.

Either side of that brace, Schade opened the scoring in away wins at Forest and Ipswich and he is an attractive bet at double-figure odds to land the first blow.

Both teams to score

Brentford's defence was exposed in last weekend's 3-1 defeat at Fulham but they have scored in their first seven matches under Keith Andrews

Bryan Mbeumo to have one or more shots on target

The former Brentford favourite scored 20 league goals for the Bees last term and has had at least one shot on target in four of his first five outings for Manchester United.

Under 1.5 Manchester United cards

Casemiro was shown two yellow cards against Chelsea last weekend but United have picked up only two other bookings in their first five league fixtures.
