Manchester City conceded a 90th-minute equaliser in Wednesday 2-2 draw at Monaco and the Citizens could take out their frustrations on Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Pep Guadiola's side were 5-1 winners over Burnley last weekend but they will have to respect the Bees, who showed their sting in last Saturday's 3-1 triumph at home to Manchester United.

Brentford vs Manchester City preview

Manchester City were denied late on by Monaco in midweek, but they have nonetheless been making steady progress on multiple fronts.

Unbeaten in six after defeats to Tottenham and Brighton, City have taken ten points from six Premier League matches, which is four fewer than at the same stage of last season.

However, the standard of their performances points towards a more successful campaign, and while they were twice pegged back by Monaco on Wednesday, City showed tactical flexibility with a dogged display in last month's 1-1 draw at Arsenal.

Pep Guardiola would be the first to admit that his side are a long way from being the finished article, but City have shown a willingness and a capability to dig in and it doesn't seem to be taking anything away from their offensive potency.

City have scored 14 league goals and their main match-winner, Erling Haaland, seems to be getting even better.

Haaland has helped himself to 11 goals in eight games and showed his unselfish side in last weekend's 5-1 rout of Burnley with an assist for Matheus Nunes.

There has been a noticeable improvement in Haaland's all-round game and that makes him an even tougher proposition for Brentford, who are off to a better start than many pundits predicted.

The Bees endured a challenging summer, to put in mildly, as boss Thomas Frank left for Tottenham and prolific forwards Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa moved to Manchester United and Newcastle.

But the Londoners have responded well to rookie head coach Keith Andrews and are looking especially impressive at home, where they have taken seven points from three demanding fixtures.

The Bees have managed to come back stronger after some big departures before and they are again flourishing thanks to Igor Thiago, who was snapped up for a reported £30 million last summer but spent most of the campaign recovering from a long-term knee injury.

Thiago has started the season superbly with four goals in six Premier League games, including a match-winning double in last Saturday's 3-1 victory at home to Manchester United.

His power and pace make him an ideal focal point for a Brentford team far more concerned with effective direct play than possession statistics.

They have scored in all of their eight games this term, but their defensive work has been less impressive and they may offer too much space for City's stars to work their magic.

Collins could collect a card

Nathan Collins has been cautioned three times this season and he may struggle to keep his cool as he tries to get to grips with an in-form Haaland.

The 24-year-old's aerial strength and calmness in possession has caught the eye, but there is room for improvement in his defensive action, particularly the timing of his tackles.

Slick City can show their class

Brentford were 3-1 winners against Manchester United last weekend but it might be their turn to be on the wrong end of a high-scoring defeat.

The Bees have gone five games without a clean sheet and may struggle to contain the Premier League's top scorers.

Brentford vs Manchester City Bet Builder

Erling Haaland anytime goalscorer

Haaland is racing clear at the top of the Premier League scoring charts and can add to his eight-goal tally in the capital.

Phil Foden to register an assist

Foden was left out of Thomas Tuchel's latest England squad on Friday but he can give the German a timely nudge by helping Manchester City to a fourth league win of the campaign.

Igor Thiago to have a shot on target

Thiago will be full of confidence after netting twice against Manchester United and can steer at least one effort on target.
