Match preview
Brentford were brought back down to earth with a bump last weekend but will be confident of making home advantage count when they face Everton on Saturday.
The Bees were brilliant in beating Manchester United 4-0 but that was soon forgotten as they lost 3-2 at Fulham.
At the same time, Everton were drawing 1-1 with Nottingham Forest and it is still unclear how Frank Lampard wants his side to play, especially away from home, where their record is wretched.
Both made changes for their midweek EFL Cup wins over lower league opposition and will revert to their strongest line-ups.
However, the Toffees’ key issue is that their tactics areoccasionally ambiguous, in stark contrast to the clarity with which Brentford set up.
Thomas Frank’s side did the league double over Everton in 2021-22 and while the Toffees won the pair’s cup meeting 4-1, it is tough to see them repeating that performance.
Key stat
Everton have won just one of their last 18 away matches from home in the league.
