Brentford vs Manchester City predictions

Manchester City might have already dropped too many points to complete a successful Premier League title defence, but the champions have looked a more convincing outfit in recent weeks and can make it four wins from four at Brentford.

Back-to-back wins have taken City into the top six, although they are 12 points adrift of leaders Liverpool and have played a game more than the Reds.

Realistically, City's targets for the rest of the season should be to push for a top-four finish and try to win at least one trophy, and their chances will increase if they continue to show the ruthless streak which was evident in Saturday's 8-0 hammering of Salford.

The victory over the League Two Ammies was fully expected but the unrelenting nature of the performance will have delighted Pep Guardiola, who witnessed hunger and desire from City's youngsters while his senior players seemed equally keen to impress.

Jeremy Doku and James McAtee were City's outstanding performers but every player looked highly motivated as a largely second-string side backed up the high-calibre performance seen from the first 11 in a 4-1 success at home to West Ham the previous weekend.

All of a sudden City have a more confident look to them and that should be a concern for Brentford, who seem to have lost their touch.

A month ago the Bees were the proud holders of the best home record in the Premier League. However, they have lost their last three home fixtures, including Saturday's 1-0 reverse at home to Championship basement boys Plymouth in the FA Cup.

Thomas Frank attempted to freshen up his team at the weekend but the approach backfired as the Championship strugglers seized the initiative and ran out worthy winners in west London.

It leaves the Bees with only the league to concentrate on and they have a massive few days on their hands as the visit of City comes just four days before a home meeting with Liverpool.

Brentford can been pleased with their progress as they sit in a comfortable 11th position and a closer gap to the top four in terms of points than to the bottom three. But they have lost five of their last seven games  and their recent dip could continue against a City side growing in belief and eager to stay on the winning trail.

Brentford vs Manchester City bet builder predictions

Over 3.5 goals
Brentford's ten Premier League home games have generated 46 goals and the high-scoring trend is likely to continue.

Erling Haaland to score the first goal
The Norwegian has netted three times in his last two appearances and can continue his recent resurgence by bagging the opening goal.

Christian Norgaard to commit at least two fouls
Norgaard has registered the most fouls (22) of any Brentford player and looks a solid bet to commit at least two more against City.
