Betting reaction to Erik ten Hag being confirmed as Manchester United manager
Dutchman 16-1 to win Premier League title in 2022-23 season
Manchester United have announced Ajax boss Erik ten Hag as their new manager after he agreed a three-year contract on Thursday.
New Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is 16-1 to win the Premier League in his first season at Old Trafford after he was confirmed as the Red Devils' new boss on Thursday.
Ten Hag will take the reins at the end of the season, replacing interim gaffer Ralf Rangnick, who will move into a consultancy role, but Ladbrokes are sceptical that the Dutchman will make an instant impression.
He is on the verge of landing a third Dutch title in a row with Ajax but the 52-year-old, who has agreed a three-year deal with Old Trafford club, will be under no illusions as to the scale of task facing him at the 13-time Premier League winners.
United were brushed aside 4-0 by title chasers Liverpool at Anfield on Tuesday and they are a whopping 22 points behind Jorgen Klopp's side and a further point behind Manchester City.
More pressing will be an attempt to gain qualification for next season's Champions League, but they are 19-1 with Betfair and Paddy Power to do so as they stand three points behind fourth-placed Tottenham.
Ten Hag, who has also had spells in charge at Utrecht and Go Ahead Eagles, has been at Ajax since 2017 and led the Dutch giants to the Champions League semi-finals in 2019 when they were knocked out by a dramatic hat-trick from Tottenham's Lucas Moura.
He is 7-1 with Ladbrokes to win the title during his stay at Old Trafford, where the Premier League crown has not been snared since Sir Alex Ferguson's final season at the helm in 2013.
Ferguson's replacement David Moyes was unable to see out a full season at United and Ten Hag is 9-2 with Ladbrokes to replicate that disappointment.
