Aston Villa vs Tottenham predictions
Aston Villa have peaked at the perfect time in their pursuit of earning another crack at the Champions League next season and the Villans may have the ideal final two opponents, starting with a home visit from a distracted Tottenham.
Unai Emery’s side need to finish in the top five in the race for Europe’s elite competition and are currently sixth behind Chelsea on goal difference with just two games to go.
However, a run of eight wins in their last ten league games certainly suggests they are rising to the challenge and six of those successes have come against top-half sides, which includes fixtures with Chelsea, Newcastle and Nottingham Forest.
Villa’s closing two top-flight matches are against Tottenham and Manchester United, who sit 16th and 17th, and they both have bigger fish to fry when they square up in next Wednesday’s Europa League final in Bilbao.
Spurs appear to have thrown in the towel in the Premier League and have taken only five points from their last ten league matches, their sole victory in that period coming against basement boys Southampton.
Last Sunday’s 2-0 defeat at home to Crystal Palace was their fourth loss in five league outings and they have been woeful away, going down in 11 of their 18 road outings.
Ange Postecoglou made eight changes for that clash with Palace and, with Dejan Kulusevski, Lucas Bergvall and James Maddison already set to miss Wednesday's big final, protecting his star names is likely to be priority.
That is why Villa are 4-11 for victory, further exaggerated by their need to win, and it is hard to see anything other than a home success.
Emery’s men have excelled this season at Villa Park, where their only defeat in 18 home league games came against Arsenal in August, and they have also lowered the colours of Bayern and Paris St-Germain on their own patch in the Champions League.
Villa toppled Tottenham 2-1 at home in the FA Cup in February and, following hard-fought 1-0 victories over Fulham and Bournemouth, another low-scoring home win could be value.
This would usually be a contest which screams goals but Spurs’ minds are understandably elsewhere and they had only one shot on target in last weekend's 2-0 loss to Palace.
Villa have sharpened up defensively, keeping five clean sheets in their last eight league matches, while Spurs have scored only ten goals in as many top-flight matches and are unlikely to go full throttle.

Aston Villa vs Tottenham bet builder predictions
Aston Villa to win
Aston Villa have won eight of their last ten league games and should be too hot for a distracted Tottenham team.
Boubacar Kamara to commit two or more fouls
Villa's French holding midfielder has committed 27 fouls in just 18 league starts this season, conceding two in back-to-back games with Fulham and Bournemouth.
Morgan Rogers anytime goalscorer
The 22-year-old has scored in both meetings with Tottenham this season and it may take a moment of his brilliance to get his side in the ascendancy.
