Premier League betting news: Watford confirm Claudio Ranieri appointment

Watford have announced Premier League-winning manager Claudio Ranieri as Xisco Munoz's successor in the Hornets hotseat and the Italian is 10-11 with bet365 to steer them to survival.

Xisco guided Watford to promotion from the Championship last season but he was sacked on Sunday after just ten months in charge.

The Hornets have collected seven points from as many games and are 15th in the table after Saturday's 1-0 defeat against Leeds at Elland Road.

Ranieri becomes the 14th managerial change at Watford since the Pozzo family took control of the club in 2012.

Hill go 4-6 that Ranieri will still be in charge of the Hornets come the end of the season.

The 69-year-old has been out of work since leaving Serie A side Sampdoria in the summer, but comes with a wealth of experience.

Ranieri famously guided 5,000-1 Leicester to a shock Premier League triumph in 2015-16 and has also managed Chelsea and Fulham.

Bet365 are unsure of the impact the appointment will have on Watford, who are 4-5 to suffer relegation and 10-11 to beat the drop.

The Hornets are 5-1 to finish bottom of the league and 16-1 to record a top-half finish.

First up for Ranieri and his new side is a visit from second-placed Liverpool, who are the last remaining unbeaten side in the Premier League, after the international break.

The Hornets are 7-1 with bet365 to stun the Reds, who are 1-3 for victory at Vicarage Road. The draw is available at 17-4.

Watford then face Everton, Southampton and Arsenal and the same firm go 7-1 that the Italian loses his first four games in charge, while the Hornets are 20-1 to collect between eight and 12 points during that tricky period.
