Nottingham Forest v Luton match preview
Nottingham Forest are looking to continue their Championship playoff push and should be confident of victory over bottom club Luton.
Sabri Lamouchi’s side suffered a dip in form before Christmas but have put together an unbeaten run of four matches.
A stoppage-time equaliser denied them victory at Reading last weekend but the Forest faithful will pack out the City Ground expecting another home victory.
Luton's away form is one of the main reasons they are the favourites for an immediate return to League One. Since winning at Blackburn at the end of September, the Hatters have failed to pick up a league point on their travels.
That run has included a 7-0 defeat to Brentford and their last two away fixtures in the league have brought a 3-0 loss to Bristol City and a 3-1 reverse at Millwall.
Their total of 36 goals conceded in 14 matches away from Kenilworth Road is by the far in the worst division but they are travelling to a side who have been goal-shy in front of their home supporters.
Forest have found the net 14 times at the City Ground - only Wigan have scored fewer at home - but this game presents an opportunity to entertain their supporters.
Sabri Lamouchi has done an excellent job to get Forest into the top six in his first few months in charge after a number of seasons in a mid-table wilderness.
Forest have not made the playoffs since losing to Swansea in 2011 but there is an atmosphere of optimism not seen in the city for some time.
This match is the beginning of a potentially critical phase of the season for Forest, who have their game in hand at home to Reading on Wednesday and also have upcoming fixtures against two teams above them in the table in Brentford and Leeds.
Luton have not won anywhere since an early December home win over Wigan and their only point in the last seven matches came in a 3-3 draw at home to Fulham.
Boss Graeme Jones faced criticism from the home fans during last Saturday's 2-1 defeat to Birmingham and has admitted that the team's current level of performance is unacceptable.
It could be another fruitless away trip for the Hatters as Forest look to return to the top flight for the first time since 1999.
Key stat
Luton have not won at the City Ground since a 1-0 victory in March 1983.
