Monday's National League football predictions

The final day of the National League season is upon us and we have a three-way relegation dogfight with Dagenham & Redbridge, Wealdstone and Maidenhead all fighting to remain in the division and only one will survive.

Maidenhead are currently 22nd and two points from safety so need a home win over Boston, but the visitors look a cracking bet at the prices to get the points and send the Magpies down.

It’s not long ago that the Pilgrims were in danger of the drop themselves, but they have impressively won nine of their last 12 to rise to 17th, with six victories from their last nine away trips.

Maidenhead looked abysmal when losing 1-0 to Dagenham in March, but have since found a bit of form, picking up 11 points from a possible 15. However, they hold the league’s second-worst home record with just one win in their last eight at York Road.

The Magpies have the motivation factor but Boston have been red hot and should be energised themselves to end the season on a high.

Wealdstone also need to win to have a chance of retaining their National League status but they could be vulnerable to Halifax.

Although their home form has picked up, the Stones have failed to win any of their last four matches and they now welcome a Halifax team boasting the third-best away record in the division with just two road defeats in their last 15.

The Shaymen could possibly rest players with their position in the playoffs secured, but home advantage in their first eliminator game is still up for grabs while Southend could yet knock them down to seventh place.

With that in mind, Halifax should remain focused and can confirm Wealdstone’s relegation.
