Morton have talent to maintain push

Morton should have enough about them to see off their neighbours from across the Clyde to win at Dumbarton.

Jim Duffy’s men have enjoyed an excellent season and have lost just once in their last seven Ladbrokes Championship games, and they also ran Aberdeen close in the Betfred Cup semi-final at Hampden.

Dumbarton continue to overachieve and grabbed a fine win at crisis club St Mirren last week. Their small stadium is a tricky place to play and only Ayr have really thumped them at their windswept ground this season.

But with Morton boasting the talent of highly-rated striker Jai Quitongo, who has been linked with moves to West Ham and Crystal Palace and Ross Forbes, who is enjoying his best ever season, the Greenock side should have too much in the locker for the Sons.

Edinburgh continue to be underrated by odds-compilers and they can continue their recent upturn by winning for the first time this season at their Meadowbank Stadium home.

The former Lowland League side got then monkey off their back last week with their first league win, which followed a William Hill Scottish Cup win at Forfar.

They face Annan and the Galabank side are in danger of getting sucked into a relegation battle in Ladbrokes League Two.

They have won just once in eight league games and the league new boys will fancy their chances of getting more points on the board.

And in a depleted card, it could be worth investing in a win for Alloa in the Challenge Cup against managerless Queen of the South.

Gavin Skelton left the Dumfries side this week citing personal reasons and after four successive losses, their superb start to the season is now a distant memory.

Alloa are under new management too, but Jim Goodwin’s side impressed last week against Stenhousemuir and must fancy their chances of creating an upset at Palmerston Park against a Queen’s side lacking in confidence and dealing with long-term injury woes.
