Montrose can continue to bloom in second half of the season

Peterhead challenge could peter out

Montrose have flown under the radar after a sluggish start but they can win Ladbrokes League Two at a decent price.

Peterhead have moved to odds-on to return to Ladbrokes League One after an impressive recent run.

But the layers seem to be dismissing the challenge of the Gable Endies and that could cost them.

Peterhead, while running up a head of steam, still have defensive issues and have an infuriating habit of tripping up when you least expect them to.

But Stewart Petrie has got Montrose playing well, with Terry Masson and 37-year-old Chris Templeman a match for anyone at this level and it looks like it could come to a straight fight between the two sides.

Early-season pacesetters Stirling Albion appear to have hit the skids, but they should still make the playoffs with one of either Elgin, Annan and Stenhousemuir. Clyde, as often happens, have been a huge disappointment.

At the bottom, it seems Cowdenbeath are destined for another playoff to achieve safety again, especially with Edinburgh City likely to improve as the season goes on. They may have to play the winners of a Highland League and Lowland League playoff, with Cove Rangers likely to be too good for them.

Recommendation
