Shamrock Rovers started their Europa Conference League with a respectable draw against Djurgarden but a 3-0 defeat away to Gent exposed the difference between the Irish table toppers and some of their European rivals.

Now Stephen Bradley’s side must play arguably the most difficult game in the group, away to Molde.

The Norwegians are 15 points clear at the top of the table domestically and were unlucky to lose the second game of the group stages to Djurgarden after going down to ten men.

Molde have been ahead at half-time and full-time in their last six league matches and with just a point to their name will be desperate for the win.

They can transfer that form to Europe against a Shamrock side who may find themselves outclassed by a team that reached the last 16 of the Europa League just two seasons ago.
