Match preview
Sheffield United have been having a successful September – taking ten points from a possible 12 – and can continue their improvement at the Riverside.
There will be no sentiment from Middlesbrough manager Neil Warnock despite his previous eight-year spell in the Blades' dugout, but he may lack the tools to strike a blow against his former club.
Warnock has done his best to freshen up a Boro side who finished tenth last season but his team have registered just two wins in nine league games and were really poor when losing 1-0 at injury-hit Reading at the weekend.
Warnock has used an array of different attackers but none of them has found any consistency and his defence has looked vulnerable.
Sheffield United should view the contest as a decent opportunity as they strive to continue pushing up the table.
They were 3-1 winners at Hull in their last away game and should give their travelling fans another grand day out.
Key stat
Sheffield United have won three of their last four league matches.
