Manchester United still 40-1 to win the Champions League after qualifying
Jose Mourinho 11-4 to leave Old Trafford this season
Manchester United are through to the Champions League knockout phase which was the source of much pride for manager Jose Mourinho but bookmakers have offered a damning verdict on their chances of making a serious run in Europe's elite club competition.
United, who beat Young Boys 1-0 on Tuesday thanks to a last-gasp strike from Marouane Fellaini, are available at 40-1 to win the Champions League and bet365 are offering 8-13 that Mourinho's men bite the dust in the round of 16.
To make matters worse, local rivals Manchester City are the 7-2 tournament favourites after securing their spot in the last 16 with a 2-2 draw at Lyon.
United's victory was hugely important but their performance lacked quality and only a sensational David de Gea save kept the score at 0-0 before Fellaini's late heroics. They clearly need to improve and there are some crunch clashes coming up with Premier League fixtures against Arsenal and Liverpool before Christmas.
Hills, however, don't see Mourinho as being under immediate threat from losing his job. They make him 11-4 to have gone by the end of the season, while the Portuguese is 4-7 to start next term at Old Trafford with any other manager priced at 5-4.
Much may depend on the reported power struggle at the club and that is a battle Mourinho is likely to lose with Hills offering 4-9 that the manager exits before star man Paul Pogba and CEO Ed Woodward.
Mourinho was involved in another bust-up, this time with TV pundits Gary Lineker, Rio Ferdinand and Paul Scholes, over a petty reaction to a missed opportunity by Marcus Rashford against the Swiss side, and Ladbrokes offer 7-2 for the young England forward to depart Manchester in 2019.
Coral cut Mourinho from 10-1 to 8-1 to be the next Premier League manager to leave his current position in a market headed by 1-10 favourite Mark Hughes.
Sparky's Southampton were eliminated from the League Cup at Leicester on penalties on Tuesday and his Saints side face United at St Mary's on Sunday before a trip to Tottenham next Wednesday.
