It may be the best time in recent decades to be a League of Ireland fan but, even in the odd good periods, one expects something bizarre in Irish football.

Up until shortly before noon on Thursday none of the Friday matches had been priced, for reasons unknown. Matches tend to be bet on from Tuesday onwards. It seems even the layers are in a bit of a state after Dundalk beat Bate Borisov!

Dundalk were hailed, widely, as the league’s best team of all-time after that win. They followed it with back-to-back defeats at Galway and Bray. Their loss at the Carlisle Grounds on Wednesday was the first time they have been beaten after taking the lead since June 2013 to continue this incredible season.
