Liverpool failed to justify strong favouritism against Manchester United and needed a late equaliser to preserve their unbeaten start to the Premier League season in a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford.

Having been 8-11 in places on Sunday morning, Jurgen Klopp's men drifted to evens as news broke that Mohamed Salah would miss the contest through injury.

The stalemate denied the Merseysiders a record start to a Premier League season and the chance to match Manchester City's top-flight high of 18 consecutive wins.

Liverpool went behind after 36 minutes to a Marcus Rashford strike which was awarded after a hotly-contested VAR review. The striker was 17-2 to open the scoring.

The technology, however, ruled out a potential leveller from Sadio Mane moments later, with the Senegalese forward deemed to have handled the ball and Liverpool trailed at the break.

United were on course for only a third league win of the season before Liverpool substitute Adam Lallana converted five minutes from time to share the points.

The Reds are 5-6 with BoyleSports to win the Premier League after winning eight and drawing one of their opening nine assignments.

Manchester City, six points adrift in second place, are 6-5 for a third successive Premier League title.

Betfred offer 4-1 about United finishing in the Champions League spots and it's 10-11 that they end up in the top six.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is 3-1 in the Premier League's next manager to leave market and his 13th-placed side are 6-1 with bet365 for a bottom-half finish.
