Son's late strike lifts Spurs over Newcastle - and City
Tottenham climbed to second in the Premier League and within four points of leaders Liverpool after Heung-Min Son's 83rd-minute strike sealed a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Newcastle at Wembley.
Son's goal, his tenth in his last 12 league appearances, clinched a third successive league win for Spurs and set a new Premier League record of 29 games since their last draw.
Despite edging above City for at least 24 hours, Tottenham are 25-1 shots to win their first league title since 1961.
City are 7-4 to retain their title and Liverpool are 4-7 favourites.
Tottenham have opened up a ten-point lead over fifth-placed Arsenal and are 1-7 for a top-four finish.
Chelsea moved above the Gunners into fourth place after Gonzalo Higuain's first two goals for the club helped them cruise to a 5-0 success over Huddersfield at Stamford Bridge. Eden Hazard also bagged two goals, lifting his seasonal league tally to 12.
The Blues are 4-6 for a top-four finish, while Huddersfield are 13 points adrift of safety.
Fulham are seven points inside the drop zone and 1-3 to go down after a Luka Milivojevic penalty and goal from Jeffrey Schlupp condemned them to a 2-0 defeat at Crystal Palace.
Palace's win lifted them to 14th, two points above Burnley and Southampton, who drew 1-1 at Turf Moor.
Southampton looked on course for victory after Nathan Redmond's 55th-minute goal but Ashley Barnes's added-time penalty levelled things up and extended Burnley's unbeaten league run to six games.
However, the Clarets are still only two points above safety following third-bottom Cardiff’s 2-0 success over Bournemouth.
A Bobby Reid brace snapped the Bluebirds’ five game winless run and gifted them three crucial points in the battle for survival.
Neil Warnock’s men are still 4-9 to go down, with 17th-placed Burnley a 2-1 chance.
Wolves consolidated seventh place after easing to a 3-1 win at Everton, but Watford lost ground in the battle for Europa League qualification when they drew 0-0 at Brighton.
