Overrated Americans look worth taking on

The United States made hard work of getting to the Gold Cup semi-finals and are no good things to see off the Reggae Boyz in Nashville to make the final.

Gregg Berhalter’s men, decent in the group section, struggled to beat Curacao 1-0 in Philadelphia on the same day that Jamaica beat Panama by the same scoreline.

That has set up a repeat of the 2017 final – which the Americans won – and also a repeat of an eve-of-tournament friendly last month – which Jamaica won.

The defending champion Americans are a short price to win on home soil and could be worth taking on against very solid opposition.

Theodore Whitmore’s men, aiming to reach a third straight Gold Cup final, have kept clean sheets in two of their last three and are defensively strong with Michael Hector anchoring the midfield.

They also have star quality going forward, notably in the shape of Leverkusen ace Leon Bailey, and that win against the States in Washington last month will have boosted their belief.

The Americans have less star quality than of old although Christian Pulisic is enjoying a fine tournament. They have also yet to concede a goal in four matches.

But their effort against Curacao was tepid and Jamaica are more than capable of holding out at the very least.

Recommendation
Jamaica or draw double chance
1pt 8-5 bet365
