Women's Nations League predictions

Spain broke England's hearts in the final of the 2023 Women's World Cup, but it is fair to say both have been underwhelming since their meeting in Sydney.

The Lionesses have won only 11 of their 19 subsequent matches, and they have been nowhere near as fearsome in front of goal as they were 18 months ago, scoring only twice in their last three games against the USA, Switzerland, and Portugal.

Friday's 1-1 draw with Portugal was a disappointing way for England to kick off their Women's Nations League campaign and they will be hoping for much better when they welcome Spain to Wembley.

The world champions also looked vulnerable on Friday night and trailed 2-0 at home to Belgium before scoring in the 92nd and 96th minutes to complete a 3-2 comeback success.

England's tendency to drop off after the break in recent matches will be of particular concern for boss Sarina Wiegman, whose side have conceded ten second-half goals since losing 1-0 to La Roja in the World Cup final.

Spain should be confident they can grind the Lionesses down and they could turn the screw after a tight first half at the national stadium.
