England Under-21 vs Germany Under-21 predictions

Games between England and Germany are rarely boring and it should be no different when their Under-21 teams face off in the final group game of this year’s European Championships.

Germany are already through to the knockout stages after winning both of their opening two games while England have a decent chance of progressing regardless of what happens. They are three points clear of Slovenia and it would require a five-goal swing for that side to overtake them if they lose and the Slovenes win.

Nevertheless the Young Lions will want to improve on their showing from last time out in which they played out a goalless draw against Slovenia in sweltering conditions.

This squad does look weaker than the one that lifted the trophy four years ago and they face a tough challenge against a Germany side who have already bagged seven goals.

Tino Livramento, Elliot Anderson and Ethan Nwaneri have been standouts for Lee Carsley’s men but goalkeeper James Beadle has looked vulnerable at times and they lack a focal point up front.

The same cannot be said for this Germany side and the imposing figure of Nick Woltemade has made a major impact with four goals in two matches.

He could give the Three Lions plenty to worry about and goals look likely.

Both teams have scored in four of England’s last five matches while over 2.5 goals has landed in nine of Germany’s last ten outings. Combine those two selections in what should be an end-to-end affair.

Elsewhere, Slovenia face the Czech Republic looking to secure a big win that could see them overtake England while in the earlier kick-offs the Netherlands must beat Ukraine if they are to join Denmark in the knockout stages and Finland need a win against the Danes to progress.
