England are 1-9 from 1-6 to top their World Cup qualifying group after beating Albania 2-0 with a workmanlike Wembley performance in Thomas Tuchel's first game as manager.

Goals from debutant Myles Lewis-Skelly and captain Harry Kane were enough to see off the visitors, who arrived with the intention of keeping the score as low as possible, sitting in a deep defensive block.

England are no bigger than 1-25 to quickly take their tally to six points with another home victory over Latvia on Monday night – the Baltic nation won their opener 1-0 against minnows Andorra on Friday but can be backed at 75-1 for a Wembley win.

Tuchel gave starts to teenager Lewis-Skelly and Newcastle's Dan Burn in his first Three Lions line-up and the Arsenal youngster grabbed his chance with both hands, slotting home from a terrific Jude Bellingham pass to become the youngest player to score on their England debut.

The 18-year-old is 8-15 from evens with bet365 to be in the England squad for the 2026 World Cup finals after clearly impressing his manager, who called him an "amazing player" and said he could play at either left-back or in a defensive midfield role.

Tuchel looks likely to have to make at least one change to his squad for Monday's game as Newcastle winger Anthony Gordon sustained a hip injury late in the game that looks set to rule him out.
