In-form Longford are fancied to lord it over rivals Bangor

Rarely has a non-league venue hosted FAI Cup matches on consecutive days but such is the case this weekend.

Bangor Celtic play Longford Town at the old Iveagh Grounds venue on Friday night, while Dundalk – somewhat contro­versially – face Crumlin there on Saturday, rather than at the latter’s home ground.

Crumlin may be in the news most this weekend due to Conor McGregor, who hails from that working-class area of Dublin, but none of the outsiders – including McGregor – can be realistically fancied.

Longford Town trounced Athlone last weekend and have impressed during Neale Fenn's regime. They should prove too strong for the non-league side.

Double them up with Dundalk, who are surely a formality on Saturday with such emphasis placed on the cup given that they are out of the league running.

Crumlin aren't a bad side but they have unfortunately ceded home advantage. Expect Ger Rowe to cause Dundalk some difficulties, but the Lilywhites can surely prevail.

It is hard to know why Drogheda are 9-20 at home to Cobh Wanderers. Drogs are near-certainties to get relegated but recently pushed Cork City hard at home and are still a far stretch removed from Wanderers, who were defeated by Liffey Wanderers in the FAI Intermediate Cup final on penalties earlier this year.

Athlone's woes have been well documented and Cork City should outclass them. The odds about the Leesiders minus two look too big. They are 2-5 having been 8-11 but the bet could easily have landed half an hour in.
