Impressive Rams can pass Vikings test

Two of the NFC’s emerging forces meet in Minneapolis and the Rams – now fourth favourites for the Super Bowl with some firms – can continue to impress.

The first thing that comes to mind about this fixture is that points may be thin on the ground with two strong defences on show.

Rams quarterback Jared Goff has made huge strides this season after looking a lost cause in his rookie campaign and he may fare better than Vikings passer Case Keenum, who has done a solid job filling in for the injured Sam Bradford.

However, Keenum now has a fit-again Teddy Bridgewater breathing down his neck and the marauding Rams defence is not the unit he would have chosen to showcase his skills against.

No quarter will be given with running backs Todd Gurley (Rams) and Latavius Murray and Jerrick McKinnon (Vikings) pounding away and the handicap start is worth taking.

The Rams are in pretty good shape. Tight end Derek Carrier (hamstring) is the only injury doubt. Linebacker Connor Barwin (knee) and safety Lamarcus Joyner (hip) should be fit.

Minnesota
Offensive tackle Mike Remmers (concussion) and safety Andrew Sandejo (groin) are out. Defensive end Brian Robison (back) is rated questionable but fellow lineman Everson Griffen (foot) is expecting to return to the line-up.
