Hendon could pip Dulwich Hamlet to Isthmian playoff success

Leiston and Folkestone up against it

Kick-offs from 7.30pm Thursday

Dulwich Hamlet were narrowly eclipsed by big-spending Billericay in the Isthmian Premier title race and they may struggle to justify favouritism in the playoff battle which could be a lot more competitive than the markets anticipate.

Finishing second gives Dulwich an advantage because they get to play at home in the semi-final against Leiston and in a possible final against Hendon or Folkestone.

They should get past fifth-placed Leiston, who finished 16 points below them in the final standings.

But the final will be tricky whoever they come up against.

Folkestone showed their quality by picking up a 2-2 draw at Billericay on the final day of the season.

But they are disadvantaged by having to play away from home in their semi-final against battle-hardened Hendon, who ended the campaign with impressive away wins at sixth-placed Leatherhead (2-1) and fifth-placed Leiston (2-1).

Hendon approach the playoffs in a confident frame of mind and would be entitled to fancy their chances in a final against Dulwich Hamlet - they took four points off the second-placed side this season.
