Guangzhou may settle for a share of the points on trip

Asian Champions League
10am Wednesday

Goals have been hard to come by in Group G of the Asian Champions League – except when it comes to Far East rivals Jeju United and Guangzhou Evergrande.

Five of the first six matches in this section produced the grand total of seven goals. The exception was the match between Guangzhou and Jeju at the Tianhe Stadium last week which Evergrande won 5-3.

That has cemented their place at the top of the section and leaves Jeju bottom of the pile. Ricardo Goulart did the damage, hitting four of Evergrande's five goals.

These are worrying times for Jeju, who have failed to find the net in their opening two K-League contests either side of their Guangzhou capitulation.

However, things are looking different for Fabio Cannavaro's Chinese powers, who followed up their win over Jeju with a 5-0 romp past Changchun Yatai. Goulart pocketed another couple and now has nine in his last six games.

Guangzhou have scored at least four in each of their last four outings, though all four games were at home and they are decidedly weaker travellers.

They drew their other two matches and would certainly be happy for another point at the Jeju World Cup Stadium.
