Preview

Airdrie look the pick of the bunch in the William Hill Scottish Cup to win their Monklands derby at Albion.

The Diamonds are not only in a higher division than their Coatbridge rivals in Ladbrokes League One, they are mounting a credible promotion campaign too.

The sides appear to be heading in different directions. Airdrie chalked up a fourth straight win last week at Stranraer with the Callum Gallagher and Dale Carrick double act again teaming up well.

Meanwhile, Rovers made an encouraging start to the campaign, but have won just twice in their last ten games and one of those was against perennial Highland League strugglers Fort William in the cup after being held to a draw at Cliftonhill.

Airdrie look a solid shout and appear to be improving every week.

Dumbarton can prevail in the all-Ladbrokes League One clash against Forfar.

Jim Duffy's side were an injury-time penalty away from deservedly defeating big-spending Falkirk last week with Isaac Layne back to scoring form.

But Forfar's form has fallen off a cliff recently with six defeats on the spin. One of those losses came last month at Dumbarton where they crashed to a 3-1 loss and new manager Stuart Malcolm has a big job on his hands.

The Station Park side are poor travellers too and haven't won an away match since the opening day of the league campaign at Airdrie. Their poor form looks set to continue at The Rock.

Elgin look a massive price to create a minor cup shock by beating Alloa at Borough Briggs.

Gavin Price's Ladbrokes League Two side have averaged almost 2.5 goals per game in their last seven matches and narrowly lost out at Ladbrokes League one highflyers Raith in the Challenge Cup last time out.

Shane Sutherland hit his 20th goal of the season in that Kirkcaldy encounter and has now netted in seven of his last eight games.

Alloa have bigger fish to fry with their usual battle to stay in the Ladbrokes Championship and are usually far better at home on their plastic pitch.

Peter Grant's side could face a tricky afternoon in the Highlands.
