Liverpool recorded an emphatic 5-0 victory at West Ham on their way to last season's Premier League title, but there has been an air of vulnerability about the champions in recent months.

The Reds return to the London Stadium in desperate need of a positive performance, with Wednesday's 4-1 dismantling at home to PSV in the Champions League signaling their ninth defeat in their last 12 matches.

West Ham would have been the ideal opponents a month ago, but Nuno Espirito Santo's arrival has given the Hammers a lift and they have recorded home wins over Newcastle and Burnley and taken a point at Bournemouth in their last three league matches.

Each of those three top-flight fixtures went over 3.5 goals and the high-scoring trend could continue against the ruffled Reds, who have conceded three or more goals in five of their last seven matches which includes back-to-back away games at Brentford and Manchester City.

With Liverpool starved of confidence and West Ham without a clean sheet in nine, goals look assured and five of the last six meetings between the teams have featured at least four goals.
