Resurgent Leicester can make their class count

Attention switches to domestic football and the resumption of the EFL Cup dominates the midweek schedule.

There is also action in the EFL Trophy, with Salford City hosting Post Vale, and a key promotion battle in League Two between third-placed Northampton and seventh-placed Carlisle.

All bets must be placed by 7.30pm on Tuesday.

Racing Post football expert Dan Childs has picked:

Port Vale to beat Salford City

Northampton to beat Carlisle

Leicester to beat MK Dons

Salford City v Port Vale

Port Vale have adjusted well to life in League One and they should have too much quality for League Two hosts Salford City in the EFL Trophy round of 16.

Northampton v Carlisle

Consistent Northampton are unbeaten in seven League Two games and they can make home advantage count against promotion rivals Carlisle, who have won just one of their last five fixtures.

Leicester to beat MK Dons

Leicester won five of their last six games before the World Cup break and they should breeze through to the EFL Cup quarter-finals at the expense of MK Dons, who are third-bottom in League One.

Wolves to beat Gillingham

Wolves players have had to wait a long time for their first game under Julen Lopetegui but they should be eager to impress and are likely to have far too much for EFL Cup fourth-round opponents Gillingham, who are rock-bottom in League Two with six goals from 20 matches.
