Luton v Birmingham

Birmingham thrashed Luton 5-0 in this fixture last season but the Hatters, who finished sixth in the Championship – 14 places higher than Blues – are usually rock-solid at Kenilworth Road and should be backed to avenge that defeat.

Cambridge United v MK Dons

MK Dons missed out on automatic promotion from League One by just a single point last season and Liam Manning's men could prove too classy for a Cambridge side who lost nine of their 12 meetings with last term's top six.

Bradford v Doncaster

Doncaster lost 15 of their 23 away games on their way to relegation from League One last season and they face a testing trip to Bradford in their League Two opener. Mark Hughes has made some exciting signings this summer and the Bantams can enhance their promotion credentials at Valley Parade.

Northampton v Colchester

Bristol Rovers' incredible 7-0 final-day win over Scunthorpe scuppered Northampton's hopes of automatic promotion from League Two in 2021-22 but the Cobblers should be in the top-seven mix again this term. They look a cut above visitors Colchester, who have flirted with relegation in the past couple of seasons and have struggled to bolster their squad this summer.
