Accumulator tips and predictions for Wednesday, April 22

Racing Post football expert Joe Casey has picked:

Birmingham to beat Preston
Sheffield United to beat Blackburn
Bayern Munich to beat Bayer Leverkusen
Strasbourg to beat Nice

Total odds: @ 7-1 with William Hill

Odds correct at time of publication

Birmingham vs Preston

Only Coventry and Ipswich have lost fewer home games in the Championship this season than Birmingham's three and they should be able to get the better of a Preston side who lost 2-0 at home to strugglers West Brom last time out.

North End have now lost five of their last nine matches and were beaten 1-0 by these opponents in the reverse fixture.

Sheffield United vs Blackburn

Sheffield United go into this clash aiming for three wins in a row and they should have too much for a Blackburn team who have lost 19 Championship games this season.

Only Sheffield Wednesday had suffered more defeats than that before this midweek slate and the strugglers may fail to add to their tally of 49 points.

Bayer Leverkusen vs Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich have won three of the last four meetings with Bayer Leverkusen, and the exception was a 1-1 draw in March in which they had two men sent off.

Vincent Kompany's side have already wrapped up the league title and should get the better of their opponents in this German Cup semi-final.

Strasbourg vs Nice

It has been a season to forget for Nice, who are still not out of the woods in the Ligue 1 relegation battle. They look unlikely to have any joy against a Strasbourg side who beat them 3-1 earlier this month.

This Coupe de France semi-final should go the way of Gary O'Neil's hosts.

Football acca FAQs

What is a football accumulator (acca)?
A football accumulator, commonly referred to as an 'acca', is a single bet that combines multiple individual bets into one. Each selection within the accumulator must win for the bet to pay out, offering higher potential returns but at increased risk compared to single bets.

Can I place an acca on different markets?
Yes, you can combine various markets in an acca, including match winners, total goals, both teams to score, and more. However, most betting platforms require that selections within an accumulator are not related to ensure the bet is valid.

What is the advantage of placing an accumulator bet?
The main advantage of an accumulator bet is the potential for higher returns from a smaller stake since the odds of each selection are multiplied together. It adds excitement to watching multiple matches, as each leg of your acca needs to be successful for a return.
