America look good value to snatch victory
Webb Simpson could be the unsung hero for Furyk's men
Live on Sky Sports from 7.10am Friday
It has been 25 years since the Americans tasted Ryder Cup glory in Europe, but Jim Furyk's team is packed with talent and look a decent price to end that run.
Tiger Woods's triumph at the Tour Championship last week was the perfect tonic for the visitors and while Justin Thomas was the only member of the team to take in Le Golf National at this year's French Open, they still have the potential to make it a fierce fight.
Some members of the team are admittedly not in great form - Jordan Spieth failed to make it to the final round of the FedEx playoffs and Phil Mickelson had a miserable time when he got there.
But the talent is there, they will have plenty of support and they can make a less experienced European line-up fight for every point.
Furyk's selection of Mickelson and big-hitting Tony Finau for a course where accuracy is key surprised a few, especially as the decision was made by a captain who has hitting fairways as an integral part of his game.
Webb Simpson knows how to find the short grass off the tee and he could be a potential unsung hero.
The Players Championship winner made a mess of his opening tee shot at Gleneagles four years ago, but the former US Open winner finished sixth and fourth in the final two playoffs and his straight hitting should mean he is suited to the track.
He looks a cracking each-way bet in the top American market and the same can be said of Open champion Francesco Molinari in the European list.
The Italian showed his class in getting the job done at Carnoustie, hits it straight - and longer than he is often given credit for - and he has finished second at the French Open three times.
