Sunday's European football predictions

Derbies between Lazio and Roma tend to be high on cards, but the last six meetings between the pair have featured a paltry seven goals.

Lazio have scored only once in the last four Serie A meetings between the two. The Biancocelesti have lost to nil in two of their first three league matches, following a difficult summer window.

The Giallorossi’s first three league games have all been decided by fine margins, with two 1-0 wins and a defeat by the same scoreline. They head into the derby in a far better place than Lazio, so back them for a low-scoring victory.

If you’re looking for more entertainment, Eintracht Frankfurt are good value to continue their high-scoring start to the campaign.

Frankfurt won their first two Bundesliga games 4-1 and 3-1, along with a 5-1 victory over Galatasaray in the Champions League this week.

Union Berlin head to Frankfurt following a 3-0 defeat at Dortmund and 4-2 loss at home to Hoffenheim. Both sides are liable to concede, so free-scoring Frankfurt look good for another high-scoring win.

Paris FC, along with Sunday’s opponents Strasbourg, were in the top three for net transfer spend this summer as they set out to make their mark following promotion from Ligue 2.

However, their two victories have come against the bottom two in the table, while they’ve lost to Monaco and Angers.

Strasbourg have won three of their first four league games as they continue to progress under Liam Rosenior.

For all their exciting attacking talent, Rosenior’s side have the lowest expected goals-against tally in the league. Paris, by contrast, have the third-highest.

Things aren’t rosy off the field for Chelsea’s sister side, but they’re good value to build on a strong start.
