Sunday's European football predictions
A 2-1 loss to promoted Cremonese made 3-10 Milan the biggest coupon-busters on the opening weekend in Serie A but they were extremely unlucky in that defeat and won the expected-goals battle 1.8-0.2.
The Rossoneri were similarly dominant when bouncing back in their second game, again racking up 1.8 xG while winning 2-0 and limiting hosts Lecce to just two shots on target.
They are controlling games excellently under returning boss Max Allegri – their proficiency at limiting their opponents' attackers should come as no surprise given how staunch his Juventus side were – and they should prove too strong when Bologna visit San Siro on Sunday evening.
The visitors also have three points to their name but, much like last season, it was another season of exodus at Bologna, with Dan Ndoye and Sam Beukema the most significant of their numerous departures.
Bologna got the better of Milan in last season's Coppa Italia final but the Rossoneri look reborn under Allegri, boasting the best expected-goals difference (3.2) of any Serie A side after two matches, and are set to exact their revenge.
Strasbourg's Emanuel Emegha was linked with numerous clubs throughout the summer but a move never materialised. His next club has since been confirmed, though, and, to nobody's surprise given Strasbourg share the same owners, that team is Chelsea.
Luckily for the French outfit, they have a ready-made replacement at the club already thanks to the summer signing of Joaquin Panichelli.
The Argentinian forward has led the line alongside Emegha brilliantly this term, scoring two goals in three appearances, and with the Chelsea-bound Dutchman ruled out through injury, he should play more of a starring role when Strasbourg host Le Havre on Sunday.
The visitors have managed just one clean sheet in their last 25 Ligue 1 matches, so an odds-against price for Panichelli to find the net is certainly worth taking.
Anyone seeking a bigger profit can also consider backing the Argentinian's goal to come via a header – just as his first for the club did.
Panichelli also had a headed goal ruled out for an offside in the build-up against Monaco last time and could exploit Le Havre's aerial weakness.
Only Reims conceded more set-piece goals in Ligue 1 than the Normandy club last term while they have already let in two from such situations this time, suggesting Panichelli could get plenty of chances to make a mockery of the 13-2 about him scoring a header.
